Welcome to my Blog!

My name is a LaToya.  I am 32 years old and I recently got married in February of this year to my long time love of 10 years.  We have 3 children together.  We have 2 boys and a girl ages 8, 3 and 2.  As my blog goes on I'll be introducing them.

I mentioned earlier that I got married in February.  On February 1, 2014 I became Mrs. LaToya White.  Then on February 6th I had vsg surgery (vertical sleeve gastrectomy).  Yes 5 days after getting married I had major surgery.  I will tell you the pain that I felt after waking up from anesthesia was unbearable.   My morphine pump wasn't touching that pain.  Then the wonderful nurses came back with a drug called nubane.   Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!  It knocked the pain done to a manageable level that I could accept and move around with.  I was glad to be able to  use the bathroom and care for myself without any help.  My surgeon Dr. Alok Gandhi a Rochester General Bariatric surgeon was amazing he addressed my concerns, settled my fears and once he removed the drain from my side...Lord I felt Great!!!!!!!!!!!   I really have to give a Huge Thank You to my Surgeon and all the staff on the bariatric floor and office at Rochester General.  Last but definitely not least... my favorite nurse Laurie!!!!!!!

I was cared for so well at the hospital, when I got home from being discharged from the hospital my mother dropped me off.  I was alone with my 3 kids and no help and no pain meds.  My Husband had to work so needless to say I went from complete peace and being pampered to my home with my busy excited children whom didn't realize that mommy couldn't really do anything.  I can't tell you how many times I had to tell them not to jump on me.  Countless times I had to tell my Princess I couldn't pick her up for a while which was really hard on her.  That day out of the blue my God mother called me to congratulate me on my marriage and she sensed my pain I guess because she asked if she could pray for me and she prayed for me over the phone.  When I tell you she gave me life that day!!!!!  It was so needed.  God puts the right people in front of you in your time of need or worry.  The next morning my Husband went to work, I sent my children to daycare and I was alone.  All alone dealing with the worst pain ever.  Since I had vsg surgery my pain meds had to be in liquid form.  None of the pharmacies here had it on stock.  I got discharged on a Sunday.  I didn't get my meds until Tuesday and after that I was on my way to healing.  Which really took time.  The incision where they removed a portion of my stomach was so tender for a long time. But I I was finally dropping the weight I had been trying to lose forever.

As of today I am 4 months out and I have lost 74 pounds!!!!!!  It's been an amazing journey so far.  Each week it gets better and better.  I had the best time putting on old but new  jeans which still had tags on that I couldn't fit before.  Going to dressing rooms to try on smaller clothes is the Best!  My old but new jeans I can slide right into them and now sadly I'll be giving them away or donating them soon because they're getting to big for me.  Which to me is Amazing!  My Husband is loving my progress and how my body is changing every week.  I'm in awe as well.  I still have 14 lbs to lose until I reach my 1st personal goal.  My second goal it to lose 30 additional pounds.

This is just a small snapshot of My Life & Experiences.
Stay tuned....
